Easy, Fast & Accurate Coulometric Titrations
This titrator from Orion make coulometric titrations a routine measurement technique, giving the user reliable results with unmatched speed and accuracy.
The AF7 coulometric titrator is the universal answer for the widest range of moisture analysis, offering coulometric accuracy and precision at volumetric titrator speed. You can even use the same sample size as you would for a volumetric titration.
Easy-to-use
Orion coulometric titrators are designed to make moisture titrations simple and trouble-free. The use of the coulometric technique itself promotes simple, rapid and accurate moisture titrations. It is an absolute method, which eliminates the need for calibration of reagents. Instrument panel controls are easy to read, understand and use - with all operating procedures reduced to simple keypad entries. Reagent handling (AF7), titration control and auxiliary commands are clearly defined on the keypad zone.
Instrument set-up and titrations are simple to perform - just press the YES/NO keys or enter numeric variables in response to automatically generated questions on the 2 x 20 character liquid crystal display. Each entry is monitored, out-of-range entries are rejected and the acceptable range is displayed.
The ability to program and store up to three titration methods - eliminates the need to re-enter analysis parameters each time the instrument is turned on. These methods are retained in memory even when the instrument is disconnected from the power supply, and can be recalled at the touch of a key.
Titrations are fully automatic with continuous indication of their progress. The rate of titration and accumulated water analysed are shown on the display and are regularly updated. The moisture status in the vessel is continuously presented on a bar graph display.
The built-in GLPdocTM printer produces a complete record of results, on completion of the required number of tests, containing date, time, test parameters and a statistical analysis of the results. Suspect results are flagged and, if requested, can be deleted from the final statistical calculations. Interfaces directly with an Orion analytical balance or other compatible balances; making it possible to semi-automate the sample handling process, thus eliminating weighty entry errors.
Unique vessel design
Large sturdy glass vessels incorporate a virtually indestructible ion-permeable membrane between the anode and cathode chambers for free passage of electrical current while preventing reagents from contaminating one another. This membrane technology overcomes the problem of clogged ceramic discs while enabling the cathode chamber to accept larger volumes of reagent, eliminating the need for frequent refilling. The ion membrane material, because of its inherent flexibility, is easy to clean while remaining undamaged from the cleaning procedure.
Individual anode and cathode electrodes make electrode installation and positioning a simple task while also permitting easy maintenance.
The AF7’s flexibility is reflected in its ability to perform coulometric titrations at both low and high currents. This permits the user to select the optimum speed and precision for each sample.
The AF7 titration vessel has exceptionally large-area platinum electrodes which, when used with high conductivity reagents, provides the current necessary to operate at the titration rate of 20 mg per minute analysis of water, the typical rate of volumetric titrators.
For convenience of reagent handling, the AF7 has an integral pumping system that permits filling and draining of both anode and cathode chambers. Reagents are drawn directly from their storage bottles to the titration vessel by way of a totally sealed pumping system. This feature prevents the entry of environmental humidity into the titration vessel.
