Not only can the 960 be used for performing classical titrations, it can also automate the measurement of any species measurable by ion selective and pH electrodes, including those which cannot be titrated.
Pushbutton Simplicity
All of the operating procedures appear on the instrument’s display in the form of easy to understand questions. There are no confusing codes or abbreviations to memorise. To execute a step, push either the “YES” or “NO” button. With dual channel electrode inputs, you can use a second set of electrodes for stand-alone determinations.
To run an analysis the first time, select the technique you want to use. A series of questions appear on the display to guide you through set-up. Each question requires a simple “YES”, “NO” or numeric value in reply. Once all of the information has been entered, you can save your method for recall whenever you want to run that analysis again. Model 960 can save up to 20 methods which you can record on a convenient tablet which rests on top of the instrument.
Quick release fittings on top of the bottles make it easy to disconnect one bottle and connect another. Flush with water, replace the reagent bottle and you are back in operation. There’s no need to stock spare burettes for fast reagent changes.
The dispenser is a rotary reciprocating pump. Unlike an automatic burette, the pump has no valves to switch for refilling. Simply fill the working solution bottle from which the pump withdraws reagents. Also, there is no dead volume, making changing reagents easy and fast.
Using Model 960 also improves precision and response time for electrode measurements. Because analysis is automated, each step is carried out consistently - time after time, operator to operator. In addition, time response is faster so sample throughput and productivity are increased.
Techniques To Automate Any Electrode Measurement
Twelve analytical techniques are programmed into the Model 960 to cover the needs of both the quality and control of research laboratories. Using 960, you can enhance the performance of ion-selective electrodes, achieving faster response, better precision and less cost per analysis than has been available before.
Typical problems encountered when doing manual analyses are virtually eliminated, making ISE technology better suited for a busy day of routine testing.
In addition, the number of species measurable by electrode has been increased by some conventional and not so conventional titration techniques.

Model 960 offers you several options in automation. By itself, the system automates the analysis, simplifying procedures which require more than “dip and read”. Even if sample throughput is not an issue, this level of automation helps reduce errors and improves operator-to-operator consistency. Model 960AD Workstation is an auxiliary reagent dispenser which simplifies measurements. The 960AD is available in two versions for use with or without the sample changer. You can integrate up to eight workstations and a sample changer into once system for maximum versatility.

Choice of Printouts
For routine measurements, a short form printout is available. All pertinent information is provided, including sample ID number, electrode used, time and date, and the result. In addition, diagnostic error messages may be printed to provide troubleshooting information such as
excessive electrode drift or matrix effect.
For methods development or research applications, a long form printout is available. In the long form, all of the raw data is printed, including volume of reagent added, millivolts, time elapsed and summary. A review of the method is also printed. In the case of titrations, first derivative values, second derivative values and a plot of the curves are also printed.
Reprint Of The Last Results And Data
Last results, data and the summary of the method can be reprinted for further documentation after the analysis is completed.
Results In The Units Of Your Choice
Model 960 can calculate results in 22 units of measurements. Simply select the units desired from a menu presented on the display. If the units you require are not on the menu, then you can define your own, based on sample weight or sample volume.
