The production of pure water is indispensable in any laboratory. However, for most users, the production of pure water also involves high costs and extensive maintenance due to inefficient or outdated water purification systems. Furthermore, most water purification systems cannot guarantee the production of consistently pure water quality.
All Millipore Analytical & Laboratory grade water systems can be directly fed with tap water. Different standards allow you to make the right choice depending on your use of purified water.
Elix system water meets or exceeds Type II water quality (corresponding to analytical- grade water) as defined by CAP, NCCLS and ISO®3696/BS 3997. With easy operation and maintenance, Elix systems have set a new standard in the pure water market. With Elix systems, control of water purity is built-in to every step of the purification process - ensuring that water quality will be a constant in your applications, not an additional variable.
RiOs-DI™ 3 UV
A very compact solution that efficiently combines reverse osmosis technology with deionization resins to produce high quality pure water of high resistivity and low TOC (<10megohms, cm and <50ppb). The system's product water is stored in an internal reservoir and is ideal for low volume routine laboratory applications. The unique simple "plug-and-use" purification pack enables the production of high quality (Type II) water from tap water. To ensure reliable contaminant removal, the pump-assisted flow of tap water steadily reaches the cartridge, in spite of low pressure on the supply side or drop in water temperature.
Ultrapure water
Ultrapure (Type I) Water that is ideal for critical laboratory applications need to match minimum characteristics, such as resistivity levels of 18.2megohms cm and 25°C (Total Organic Carbon) levels below 10ppb. However, based upon different applications, ultrapure water also needs to match more specific requirements. A critical contaminant for one application may have no impact on another. For instance, boron contamination of 100mg/L will not affect organic analysis, but for a QC laboratory of a semi-conductor plant, it may ruin elemental analysis performed by ICP-MS.
Ultrapurification water systems must be fed with pre-treated water (deionised, elix. RO) - with the exception of Direct-Q. Additional purification technologies provide the flexibility to produce the water quality needed for your applications (TOC, bacteria, heavy metals etc).
Direct-Q® 3 Ultrapure
Designed for simple and intuitive operation. Water quality parameters (resistivity or conductivity, temperature) are clearly indicated on a bright colour display. The Direct-Q 3 systems allow delivery of a fixed volume of Type I water and automatically shut off once the selected volume has been delivered. The Type I product water is suitable for most low-volume laboratory applications including the preparation of buffers for liquid chromatography separations and bichemical experiments of solutions for analytical techniques such as spectro-photometry and spectroscopy, and of culture media. For applications requiring very low organic contaminant levels, the Direct-Q 3 UV system also incorporates a dual wavelength UV lamp to produce water with <5ppb TOC making it suitable for HPLC, GC, ILC & TOC analysis.
